Marigolds in various forms are a commonly used bedding plant in British gardens. A fantastic companion plant, they attract hoverflies and bees. They also divert black fly from beans. From sowing the seed to flower can take as little as 8 weeks, which makes them perfect for children or beginner gardeners.
Marigolds are an annual flower, growing for a single season and then dying. They can range from a few inches tall, to up to 4 feet in height. Check when buying seeds or plants.
I grow marigolds of different varieties and colours through the edges and borders in my garden. These grew around the base of my crab apple tree during the summer of 2018.
