All new greeting cards

Fitting this in around other stuff going on isn’t always easy, and I am aware that sometimes the website suffers as a result. But I hope there are still a few of you who wander in to see what I’m up to from time to time.

This week I have been sorting, packaging, cataloguing, and listing the new greeting cards for you. I also adjusted the postage so that, unless you order loads, it’ll be free postage as long as you live in the UK. Free postage will be simple second class post, but if you’d rather your order was tracked please make sure you select that option. There will be a small postage charge for that upgrade, but it’s entirely up to you.

In the gallery below you will find all the new designs, and they can all be found on the Greeting cards shop page.

New cards just arrived!

A lovely box of new card designs arrived this morning, and I’ll be adding them to the shop in the next few days.

Bear in mind I’ve been adjusting the postage rates, so orders with a small number of cards should work out as free postage. If it doesn’t please let me know and I’ll play with it until it works! Free postage will be sent second class with no tracking or signature. This is at your own risk, and tracked is available too, it’s your choice.

In the meantime you can see the designs in the gallery below, I hope you like them.

When your cards arrive, the watermark will not be there. I only add it to protect my designs when they’re online. If you want to use any of my images for anything, please ask. I’ll need to know what you want them for, and how you’re planning to use them, but I’ll look at each request on its’ own merits.

All done, for this year.

Well, that’s that for another year. The final assignment is handed in and there’s no more editing, nothing more to be done. It’s either good enough, or it isn’t. (this is the moment when I suddenly realise I should have said something in the report, or could have said things better… It’s always the way the mind works.)

But it’s done, handed in, and out of my hands now, which means I can turn my mind to other things. Like which images to include in the next round of greeting cards!

Possible images can be seen in the gallery below, and I will consider other suggestions as well. You know, if you want trees, or a beach, or hot air balloons, or something. If it’s something I can get to, and if I can get a good shot, then I’ll consider it. No promises, but I’ll consider the suggestion.

What I’d like you to do is have a look at the gallery and let me know which images you would like to see as greeting cards. I want to pick a maximum of 10 and to be able to offer packs as well as single cards. Your input would be greatly appreciated!

Greeting cards

This past week has seen a new idea begin to take shape. It all started last Christmas, when I was given a camera, my first DSLR – Thanks Dad! The beauty of digital is that you can take literally thousands of pictures, and then delete them all when they’re completely rubbish. But now and then, once in a while, there’s an image that sings, that stands out, and you fall in love with it.

First I set out to take a picture of a gull, in flight. They are magnificent hanging in the wind, wings outstretched. They’re almost boring sitting on the ground, hunched against the weather. I managed to capture some lovely images, and friends and acquaintances commented that one or two could be good enough to be commercial. Further opportunities came about, and I found myself planning trips out to capture particular images – usually wildlife, or nature in some form.

Wings up

I printed a handful, made them into cards and sent them to friends or family as birthday cards. The response was good.

Then, as part of the digital media course I am studying, we had to create an online shop. So, I thought, I have my books, and I’ve added some of Mum’s hand crafted items, why not have some of the pictures as cards as well?

The first few arrived a few days ago and I’ve been adding them a few at a time. There aren’t many of each print, and I think I’ll keep it that way for now. If you’re interested, check out the “Greeting cards” link on the left side of the page.
