Where did he come from?

“A word after a word after a word is power.” Margaret Attwood.
Thank you Gayle Brandeis for that, via the Nano Pep Talk emails. Now that makes a lot of sense today and that email hit my inbox at just the right time.
How does a word war work? First you need to find a writing buddy, or someone to war with. Then you sit down together - or at home but both on msn and one of you sets a timer for 5, 10 or 15 mins, or whatever time you agree but make it short this is for instant gratification.
Then you type, as fast and furious as you can and you wipe the floor with your writing buddy…. Umm, you see who’s written the most words. Then let out a small cheer and do it all again.
Do this 4 times for 15 mins each and you’ll beat the daily Nano word count target of 1667 words easily. You can edit it in January, don’t worry.
I have a writing buddy. We challenge each other, we compete and we also support each other in our writing. But we write in very different ways and an email from NaNo made me think about it this morning.
Now, where was I….
Oh yes, Salisbury - where Peter, and new friend Colette, ended up spending the night near the cathedral and where Peter was told he was going the wrong way, by a sheep.
Today they’re on the run again on stolen horses, sleeping in an abandoned cottage somewhere near Oxford, and heading roughly North but trying to avoid any sheep on the way because most of the Flock are under the control of the Ovine brethren.
Colette doesn’t want to learn to knit, but she can cook….
Almost 18,000 words done and a third of the way to the finish line of 50,000.
November is here and I’m writing like a mad thing again. It’s day nine today and the NaNoWriMo forums have slowly come back up to speed after being clogged with the surge of new sign ups and heavy load that always happens during the first week or so.
