This is week two of a possible three, at the end of which I will either have an email telling me to change something or the book will be approved by Bowkers. I can’t see anything that would cause it to fail but you never know.
In the meantime The Portal Between is on my Lulu store and it won’t be long before it will be will be appearing on Amazon. It’s only the paperback that I’ve put through this process, but the hardback (without an ISBN) is still there on the Lulu store, with the same new cover and the same manuscript inside. It’s just a different binding and doesn’t have the distribution package. I figure the paperback will sell better, and so does my PR and marketing friend.
The ISBN is 978-0-9556887-0-6 but it’ll be another couple of weeks before it’s in the distribution channels and you can order it from your local library or book shop.

Your book information will be sent to Bowker’s Books In Print and once approved by Bowker, Lulu will upload your title to our distribution network. Should there be any problems with your title in Books In Print, we will contact you. This process is generally completed within 2-3 weeks. You can expect to see your book listed on Amazon and other online retailers within the next 6 to 8 weeks.

So, 2-3 weeks for approval by Bowkers and 6-8 weeks for Amazon. I have an ISBN but it won’t appear anywhere apart from on Lulu until the Bowkers part of the process is complete, at which point I’ll be having a party I think!
The number is attached, I can see a panel with a barcode on. Now I need a proof copy to check over before I release it.
It’s likely to be a couple of weeks before it’s released and that is assuming nothing needs changing when I get the proof copy. It’s a steep learning curve this, but lots of fun and very exciting.
So, if anyone who’s already read it has spotted any typo’s or problems than please shout up now!
I have the ISBN! Just waiting for Lulu to action it and add it onto the cover and then I can take the next step.

Isn’t it stunning? It was uploaded to Lulu a couple of days ago and is now in the process of being prepared for the addition of the ISBN number and barcode. So the old cover is the one available to buy now, but this fabulous new cover is coming soon.

I have a cover, I have the ISBN numbers and the powers that be at Lulu will be matching the two together over the next few days. There was a short delay in cover production due to the designer getting flu and through my being very very picky.
This is just so exciting!
